Bangarang at Soho Farmhouse
Founded in 2023, Bangarang have been a hit in the Cotswolds, hosting supper clubs all over the region in places such as Soho Farmhouse, Daylesford and many more. After multiple successful supper clubs, Bangarang have launched ‘Bangarang on Tour’, a four month tour of food, fire and wine in some of the regions finest locations.
To find out more about the tour, we spoke with Bangarang founder Daniel to see what the next few months have in store!
What inspired you to start Bangarang?
“I always knew I wanted to open a restaurant. Not just any restaurant — one that felt alive, rooted in real food, real people, and a sense of place. But after years of working in other people’s restaurants, I realised something important: as long as I stayed where I was, the dream would stay just that — a dream. I’d keep refining someone else’s vision instead of building my own. So, I quit.
It wasn’t a decision I took lightly. There was no funding lined up, no team waiting in the wings, no premises ready to go. Just an idea I believed in and a name that had been stuck in my head for years: Bangarang. It meant energy, chaos, movement — and it felt like the perfect word for what I wanted to create.
Bangarang started with three things: food, fire, and wine. I knew I wanted to cook over flame — to get back to something more instinctive and rawer. I wanted the menu to be seasonal and produce-led, sourced from local farms and cooked simply. I wanted a wine list that was alive, featuring natural and low-intervention bottles that felt as expressive as the food. And I wanted it all to happen in spaces where people felt at ease — long tables, good music, no pretense.”
How did you go about starting Bangarang?
“With no restaurant yet, I took the idea on the road. Bangarang launched as a supper club and catering business, setting up in borrowed spaces, farms, and private homes. I designed the events to feel like stepping into a restaurant that didn’t exist yet — one-night-only versions of what I hoped Bangarang could one day be. Every service was a test, a celebration, and a step closer to making it real.
What started as a way to keep the dream alive became something more. I found a community of people who cared about where their food came from, who loved the rhythm of a shared table, who came back again and again not just for the food, but for the feeling. Bangarang began to grow — not just as a concept, but as a living thing.”
What’s next for Bangarang?
“Now, I’m taking the next step. We’re launching a limited series of supper clubs, serving wood-fired food and natural wine to just 45 guests a night. It’s still intimate, still hands-on, still full of fire — but it’s also the beginning of something bigger.
The dream is still to open a permanent space. But Bangarang was never just about a building. It’s about a way of cooking, a way of gathering, and a way of doing things on your own terms.”
Why the name Bangarang?
“In Peter Pan, “Bangarang” is the call of the Lost Boys, a defiant, chaotic, joy-filled shout that means adventure, freedom, and living without limits. It’s about embracing the wildness of life, throwing out the rulebook, and creating something magical in the moment. That’s what Bangarang is all about.
We take the best parts of fine dining (the craft, the precision, the storytelling) but rip out the pretension. Instead of hushed, formal dinners, we create feasts that feel alive, filled with spontaneity, laughter, and a touch of beautiful chaos.”
Speaking from personal experience, Bangarang is one of the most exciting businesses shaping the Cotswolds at the moment, disrupting the hospitality scene with something new and exciting.
